Suleiman Hani
Imam, Lecturer, and Author
Imam Suleiman Hani is a lecturer and author hailing from Dearborn, Michigan. He has completed the memorization of the Qur'an and hundreds of classical and modern texts, and has gained ijazāt in the six books of ḥadīth from multiple scholars, as well as a Master of Arts degree from the University of Jordan’s College of Shari’ah, ranking first in his class. Suleiman has served as an Imam and youth director since the age of 19, lectured at conferences and workshops around the globe, and has authored numerous books and articles.

He currently serves as an instructor, adviser, and researcher at various educational and humanitarian institutions, the CEO of several business ventures, and an Imam and Religious Director in Michigan.
Shabir Ally
Imam, Lecturer, and Debater
Dr. Shabir Ally holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, with a specialization in Biblical Literature. He also holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Quranic Exegesis. He is the president of the Islamic Information and Dawah Centre International in Toronto where he functions as Imam. He travels internationally to represent Islam in public lectures and interfaith dialogues. He explains Islam on a weekly television program called "Let the Quran Speak". Preacher Moss
Comedian, Lecturer, and Anti-Racism Advocate
Preacher Moss is an all-star comedian and educator. His “End of Racism” Comedy and Lecture tour was voted Best Diversity Act – and rightfully so. His experiences as a comedian, writer, lecturer, Muslim, African-American, and poor righteous teacher are the sum of all his parts.

Munir El-Kassem
Doctor, Speaker, and Counselor
Dr. Munir El-Kassem was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1955. He was educated at Al-Maqasid Islamic Institute. He was the top student to be admitted to the Pre-medicine program at the American University of Beirut. Following his migration to Canada, he continued his studies at Western University earning a Masters Degree in Medical Genetics thereafter joining the University of Toronto to graduate as a dental surgeon in 1986. After spending 15 years in general practice, he joined Western University as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Since his arrival in Canada in 1976, Dr. El-Kassem has been actively involved in Islamic Da’wah. He has visited a large number of Muslim communities across Canada, the Caribbean and the United States. He has also participated in interfaith dialogue and appeared on radio and T.V. programs. Dr. El-Kassem has helped numerous Muslim communities fundraise for mosques, Islamic schools, and humanitarian projects all over the world.
Abdool Rahman Khan
Imam, Lecturer, and Scholar
Shaykh Abdool Rahman Khan is a graduate of the Islamic University in Madinah Munawwarah, in the faculty of Shari’ah (Islamic Jurisprudence) specializing in Islamic Inheritance. He attended the university from 1982 to 1989. His soft accent gives away that he is originally from Guyana, South America. Sh. Abdool Rahman Khan is a father of two daughters and one son. Currently, his son is a student in Madinah University, his elder daughter is attending medical school and the younger one is completing 10th grade in Chicago. ”My family will join me here in Virginia after her school year,” says Sh. Khan in an interview with the Muslim Link. He is the former Principal of the Guyana Islamic Institute and also of Al-Rahmah School, Baltimore, MD. He served as the resident scholar and Imam at Masjid Tawheed in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. As the Resident Scholar and Khateeb at Islamic Foundation, Villa Park, Chicago, IL for 13 years, he was outspoken and actively involved in the field of religious dialogue and social issues. He is also the chairman of the Shari’ah Council of Islamic Circle of North America and a member of the Fiqh Council of North America.
Shafayat Mohamed
Principal, Lecturer, and Scholar
Shaykh Shafayat was born, in Trinidad, West Indies. In 1975 he went to India to study Islam and became the first student from the Caribbean and North America to have graduated as an Islamic scholar from Darul Uloom Deoband, which is the largest and oldest Islamic University in India. He is the Founder and Principal of Darul Uloom Institute in Pembroke Pines Florida and the first Muslim to become President of the Interfaith Council of South Florida in the year 2002. Shaykh Shafayat was the first Muslim to represent Islam at a Florida State Faith Summit. He lectures throughout the USA and worldwide on Islam, interfaith issues, and cultural diversity.
Suzy Ismail
Executive Director, Author, and Counselor
Suzy Ismail is the Executive Director and Head Communication Counselor at Cornerstone, a non-profit, faith-based communication counseling center. She previously taught for over a decade in the Communication Department of Rutgers and DeVry Universities and served as a student advisor and board member of a local private school. Suzy is the author of books on topics including marriage. She specializes in presenting communication lectures and diversity workshops. She has spoken at many universities and at the World Meeting of Families during Pope Francis’ first US visit. She has also traveled to the Syrian border to work with refugees and continues her work through recovery and integration counseling. She has served as an executive officer and director on several non-profit boards, commissions, and organizations. Suzy's awards include being named an Ambassador for Peace through the Universal Peace Federation. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Marriage and Family Intervention.
Daud Haqq
Imam, Speaker, and Counselor
Imam Daud Haqq, originally from Barbados, received his Islamic background at the University of Madinah, earning a diploma in the Arabic Language. He’s been an acting Imaam, educator, and advisor in many Muslim communities around the Caribbean. From 1988 to 1997, Imam Daud Haqq has volunteered at various universities, where he lectured on subjects as Comparative Religion, Comparative Law, and Self-Awareness & Human Development. Imam Daud Haqq currently resides in Newark, New Jersey where he stands as the Imaam of the NIA Masjid & Community Center, President of Muslim Outreach for Anti-Violence (MOAV), and an active member of numerous social groups. Today, he is a well-known motivational speaker and Family & Marriage counselor.
Tayyib Zaman
Educator, Speaker, and Youth Leader
Tayyib Zaman is a student of knowledge who enjoys studying with the Shuyūkh. He has graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Studies from AlMaghrib Institute and a Degree in Arabic from Bayyinah Institute. He holds two Ijāzahs in the recitation of the 10 Qirā’āt and is currently the Youth Director at Masjid Darul Qur’ān and the Head of the Arabic, Quran and Islamic Studies Department at MDQ Academy in Long Island, New York.
Nazeem Habibulla
Lecturer, Community Leader, and Engineer
Originally from Guyana, Shaykh Nazeem Habibulla completed a degree in Arabic language and Da’wah in Libya. Since then, he has moved to the United states and resides in New York City. Shaykh Nazeem is very active in the field of Da’wah and in the promotion of Islam in New York. He is a lecturer, teacher, counselor, and community activist. Shaykh Nazeem currently is the chairman of Al-Ihsan Academy School board. He is also a vice president and senior engineer at a prestigious wall street firm.
Rafeek Mohamed
Educator, Community Leader, and Scholar
Shaykh Dr. Rafeek Mohamed is a proud son of Guyana. At a young age, he traveled abroad to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he attended Umm Al-Qura university and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Shari'ah. Shaykh Rafeek is the principal of Al-Ihsan Academy, a private Islamic Pre-K to 12th Grade institution located in South Ozone Park, NY. He also holds a PhD in education from the Atlantic International University.
Safraz Bacchus
Imam, Community Leader, and Chaplain
Shaykh Safraz Bacchus is originally from Guyana, a country in South America. At a very young age he left Guyana and traveled to Cairo, Egypt where he attended Al-Azhar University and received a bachelor’s degree. Shaykh Safraz has since received his masters degree in Islamic theology. He has also worked extensively with the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG). Currently, Shaykh Safraz is the Imam and Shaykh of Masjid Al-Abidin in Queens, New York. Shaykh Safraz is also a clinical chaplain (clinical pastoral education), a position that allows him to counsel individuals at various hospitals.
Abeda Khanam
Educator, Chaplain, and Mental Health Advocate
Named the 2015 Hometown Hero in Education, Abeda Khanam is an adjunct lecturer at LaGuardia Community College in New York City. But Abeda's first love is her high school freshmen class, for whom she is a perennial biology teacher for the past two decades. Over the years, Abeda has chaired the science department and wrote pioneering curricula ranging from molecular biology to urban botany. Outside the classroom, Abeda is an avid gardener, promoting the farm to table ideology in her students through a garden club that meets weekly. In her community in the greater Jamaica, Queens, Abeda serves as a chaplain and advocate in the areas of family values, social justice, and mental health. She teaches Mental Health First Aid to her fellow New Yorkers with the surety that building resilient communities involves all its members, from students to teachers, as well as parents, neighbors and guardians. On a given day, you can find Abeda preaching the values of sustainability, displayed through her hobbies of driving an electric car, collecting rain water, and quoting scripture to care for the earth and all of its inhabitants.
Hamida Khan
Student, Educator, and Lecturer
Ustadha Hamida Khan studied extensively under Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips and Dr. Farhat Hasmi. Ustadha Hamida has taught sisters classes in Dubai for three years. She has also been teaching Sisters English classes on Saturdays at the Hillside Islamic Center in New Hyde Park, New York, for the last eight years.
Sabiya Nashurdeen
Youth Leader, Sociolinguist, and M.S. Degree Candidate
A former student of Al-Ihsan Academy, Sabiya Nashurdeen comes from a social sciences background, having earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Linguistics and Sociology at Stony Brook University. Currently, she is pursuing dual Master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology and Early Childhood Development at Adelphi University. Most recently, she has presented graduate research on the sociolinguistic profile of New York City’s Indo-Guyanese community at the state communication sciences convention in Rochester. Her current clinical training focuses on speech-language therapy, behavioral therapy for children with autism, parent-child psychotherapy and screening, and social-emotional teacher training. Sabiya is passionate about making connections between her professional interests as they relate to spiritual attachment, interpersonal relations, culture, and childhood development.
